IP Camera + NVR Hacking
07.03, 20:30–22:30 (Europe/Berlin), Workshops 1st floor

We'll hack on some budget IP cameras and network video recorders.

You will learn
- how to attach to the serial port and dump/extract/analyze the firmware
- how to build and run a custom kernel with a simple root file system
- in particular, how the cpu tool helps you explore the target device

Please bring a laptop with a system that you can easily install and run software on, ideally Arch, Gentoo, Fedora, openSUSE or Debian/Ubuntu. Preinstall Minicom, a current Go toolchain, make and git.
If you have one, please bring a USB serial converter (TTL / 3V), and an ethernet cable, possibly an ethernet adapter if you don't have one built into your laptop.

Working in groups of 2 to 3 is encouraged; about 10 participants max.
