08.03, 11:00–15:00 (Europe/Berlin), Workshops 1st floor
Since HIP6 what I heard most when talking with ppl about QubesOS was "Yeah, uh, I always wanted to install/try this...".
So let's get our hands dirty!
This workshop assumes:
- no prior knowledge to QubesOS (I'll brief you on what's missing).
- basic understanding of (Fedora|Debian|Arch) or any UNIX-based sys really
- your need/curiosity to explore QubesOS
Bring:
- a machine that meets the requirements (https://doc.qubes-os.org/en/latest/user/hardware/system-requirements.html)
Do yourself a favor and try to have:
a) a large enough disk
b) enough RAM
this way you'll get more out of it than just install and nuke right afterwards.
We'll start with installing it together.
From that point it's up to you how intense you want this workshop to be.
You can walk away after <30min, or if you're interested we can together see how:
- Qubes leverages saltproject.io to configure it's VMs and dom0
- to swop out the default DE/WM
- what neat tricks/ QoL improvements might help you
- to hammer it into your very own thing
- some of the community guides are genuine and helpful
- do stuff that you can't on other OSes.
In no particular order.
I'll do my best to empower newcomers but not bore more advanced users.
